Clark is Acquired by Noodle Pros

By Megan O’Connor and Sam Gimbel, Co-Founders @ Clark

There are 4.4 million underemployed educators in the United States. My co-founder Sam Gimbel and I came up with the idea for Clark in 2016 with the goal of making a dent in that figure. By providing educators with the tools they need to build and manage successful tutoring businesses, we could help unlock new economic opportunities for educators everywhere.

Over 25k tutoring sessions have taken place on the Clark platform since we launched. While we’re incredibly proud of our progress so far, there’s still a lot of work to do and opportunity is so massive that we can’t tackle it alone. Today we’re excited to announce that Clark is being acquired by Noodle, an education studio that is creating new marketplaces to improve how people teach and learn.

Specifically, Clark will serve as the backbone for Noodle Pros, a cohort of the world's most experienced test preparation and academic tutors. With the Clark product and customers serving as a foundation, Noodle Pros can become a network where new personalized learning techniques can be tested and developed at scale. As a part of the acquisition, the software from Clark will be leveraged by Noodle Pros tutoring businesses and existing Clark customers will still have access to the same products that they’ve become accustomed to.

Noodle not only shares our vision for the impact technology can have on education, but it also has the leadership in place to make this vision a reality. Noodle was founded by John Katzman, one of the most accomplished names in education. He’s built and lead organizations like The Princeton Review and 2U, which have played a major role in shaping our education system. Under John’s leadership, I believe that our product, team, and customers will be well positioned to grow and thrive.

John feels the same way: “Clark has built a world-class team, great tech and a strong community of tutors. All three Noodle Companies will benefit from this combination, but especially the tutoring network, which is poised to revolutionize that space.”

We’re so thankful for all of the educators, parents and students that have supported Clark on its journey, and we look forward to continuing to serve you from our new home at Noodle. Stay tuned for more updates as we find new ways to integrate our products and better serve educators and students!
