Oregon Students Gain Some International Cred as Certified Tutors

Jan 31, 2018

What’s the deal? Students at Oregon State University and Southwestern Oregon Community College can now earn the title Certified Tutor (or even Certified Advanced or Master Tutor), thanks to both institutions’ recent recognition by the College Reading & Learning Association, a consortium of more than 1,000 certified tutoring programs globally.

Sounds fancy! For the tutors who complete the required amount of tutoring hours at Southwestern, the certification is more than just a fancy title. Southwestern Transitional Education Director Meredith Stone says the program gives tutors a leg up academically during their studies and future academic career, and “may even help them find employment” as a professional tutor.

How can I sign up? Well, for starters, you can learn more about CRLA and its extensive tutor certification program by visiting them online. The CRLA program is one of several certification options open to tutors, and a great way that tutors can showcase their unique professional edge to potential clients.
